I have just returned from 7 nights in Dubai. If you get the chance, you HAVE to go! We had the most incredible time! I was slightly sceptical before we went, due to what I have heard about it being so strict over there. But just be as respectful as you would anywhere else and you will be fine 🙂
I thought I’d fill you in with what we got up to. Brace yourself for a lengthy post!
I am so thankful for my friend telling me about Brunch. I know you’re probably thinking ‘I know what brunch is’ but this is a brunch like no other.
Now brunch is a Friday thing in Dubai, and I think most hotels do them. We went to the Bubbalicious Brunch at the Westin hotel for ours as we done a bit of research before we went and saw this one was rated number 1. I can 100% see why!!
Basically, everyone dresses up the max and spend hours eating and drinking champagne. Sounds like a dream right?
So you pay a set price, and there are a few different packages to choose from so prices vary. When you are seated at your table, you are asked which bubbly you would like for the day. We chose the sparkling pink rose. This glass is filled up pretty much every time you take a sip! I’ve never known anything like it! As for the food.. I have never had so much amazing food to choose from! There was a long row of every type of cheese you could imagine, a huge fruit and salad display, basically a whole fish market, an Arabic section where they cook the meat to how you want it, a Chinese section, Thai section, a desserts corner, a four sided fondue fountain with every type of chocolate… the list goes on. The atmosphere was great, there was a live band, and the hotel itself was beautiful. It was unreal, and I would say it’s the best all around dining experience I have had.
Unfortunately the excitement got the better of me, which meant I didn’t get as many photos as I would have liked!
If you’re ever in Dubai on a Friday, you must go!
Yes, that is a watermelon filled with alcohol…
THE DUBAI MALL
Unlike any shopping mall I have ever seen! It’s absolutely huge, and so well kept. While we were there, we paid to go into the aquarium which we absolutely loved. It was completely mad to think that we were inside a shopping mall, whilst sharks and sting rays were swimming above us. We also had this little ‘behind the scenes’ pass, where we had a guide who showed us how they operate it all, and also informed us that there are 10 million litres of water in the mall aquarium!!! Our ticket also gave us access to the underwater zoo, which was fun.
Inside the Mall, there was also an ice rink (bizarre) and a cinema and soooo many places to eat.
(How creepy is that sting ray’s face?)
The fountains are a must see if your in or around Dubai Mall, they are so beautiful!
THE BURJ KHALIFA
My friend also thankfully told me about At.mosphere, which is on floor 123- one floor below the observation deck. This was 100% the better option, as you don’t have to pay for entry, there was barely anyone there, cocktails were 50% off as we arrived after 11pm, and also we could stay there for how long we wanted (until closing) rather than having a set amount of time at the normal observatory! We also managed to get a window seat when we were there, and got the same amazing view that we would have if we had paid to go up a floor. Floor 124 is the very highest you can go as a member of the public, as there are 163 floors, but those are inaccessible as they have other uses!
Enjoying a strawberry daquiri at the top of the tallest building in the world!
Seeing is it’s of the one most well known hotels in Dubai, we decided we had to check it out. The water park is a different entrance all together, so although we were there in the daytime, we didn’t actually get to see the hotel. It really is luxurious in there, and can see why it’s such a big name. It’s absolutely huge, with East and West wings, shops all inside and lots of fancy restaurants. We really wanted to the aquarium restaurant but as I don’t eat seafood, it would have been a waste. We went to Nobu instead, and had a gorgeous Japanese meal there, with great service!
ATLANTIS LOST CHAMBERS & WATERPARK
We pre booked our tickets for the water park through our hotel, but when we got there we could add on the Lost Chambers for a small amount more. It was really good, with lots to see. Worth going!
The water park was a must for us when we were out there. It was a great day, and probably the best waterpark I’ve been to. Although admittedly, after we got off the first slide I did get slightly annoyed/ frustrated. But this is only because I didn’t realise how extreme the slides would be! I know, such a wimp. They aren’t for the faint hearted. Don’t get me wrong- I LOVE rollercoasters and big slides, but rides where you just get DROPPED are not my thing. And that’s exactly what most of the slides there entailed. I can laugh about it now as after I done a few I manned up and we pretty much done everything, and ended up having the best time. I even conquered THE slide. You know, this one?
ST REGIS HOTEL
Probably one of the grandest, most beautiful hotels I have ever been to! We had dinner there at the Steakhouse, which makes me hungry just thinking about it. Amazing service and food. Rather pricey, but when you have a personal bar man making cocktails for you at your table, you can’t really complain.
We even got to choose which knife we wanted to use for our steaks.
So we got a 10 minute taxi down to the beach about midday. I mean, what better time to go the beach in 40 degree heat… #sobritish #areyoujoking #whatwerewethinking.
As you can imagine the beach was empty haha. But such a beautiful beach, with white sand. We did ok with the heat to be fair, with regular dips in the warm sea.
So we found this bar on tripadvisor called Shades, and as soon as we saw it we knew we really wanted to go. We attempted to go one night but the taxi took us to a completely different bar, which is also called Shades, which was slightly disappointing. So we walked around for a few minutes and stumbled across this contemporary pan-Asian restaurant called Zengo, which turned out to be really really good- So it actually worked out great. I’ve only just seen that it’s ranked #12 of restaurants in Dubai. Not bad for accidentally finding it! Haha.
It worked out really well that we never got here on the night that we had intended to, as we ended up coming here on our last night. What an amazing view to have dinner! The food was great, and after dinner we had shisha too. Definitely worth the wait to get there!
Writing about it all just makes me want to go back! It’s literally the most immaculate place I have been to, and everywhere you look is so beautiful! I had been told by people that we would get bored being there for a week, but I honestly cannot see how anyone can say that. I could have stayed for so much longer, and there is still so much more to explore! Even though the heat out there resembles what I can only relate to, as that moment when you open up the oven (I kinda like that feeling) I believe I have found one of my favourite places EVER!
