Yesterday, I had the absolute pleasure of attending the Drapers Next Generation Event in London- which was sponsored by Matalan.
I went with my friend Elle, who is actually starting up her own Fashion Brand which is looking amazing! (Keep an eye on www.elldxn.co.uk) The day was filled with talks and interviews with fashion Industry professionals, such as the CEO of Jack Wills, The CEO of The Range (he was previously the CEO of House Of Fraser), various Fashion buyers, Creative Directors, and Business owners. It was such a great day as it was full of other young people who were striving to excel in their fashion careers. It was a really inspiring event, and was so interesting to hear all of the stories and advice from the people who have made it, and the journeys they have had! A delicious lunch was provided along with a few coffee breaks throughout the day, where we had tea and biscuits.
At the end of the day, we were all given goody bags which were filled with some amazing items. The after party kicked off after that, where there was free flowing alcohol, a pic ‘n’ mix stand, canapés, a photo booth, music and lots of networking!
Although I’m not currently working within the Fashion Industry, I still found this event extremely useful and relevant. I think of my blog and social networks as my own brand, and it’s something I’m so passionate about. So it was really helpful to hear advice on branding and getting yourself started, and was most definitely worth going to. It 100% goes to show that if there’s something you want more than anything, and you’re willing to put everything you have – plus more into it, then you will get there in the end, it just may take some time! Hard work pays off!
(Yes that’s a Budweiser in my hand- Beer over wine any day for me!) haha
